Eighteen months ago my sister got married in Rarotonga. Her husband Moana, my brother-in-law, comes from an island called Rakahanga which is 1200 odd K's north of Raro.

Curious about Rakahanga and Moana's heritage I turned to my most knowledgeable friend to find our more about Rakahanga.

What Google gave me was the picture above.

I stared at that photograph for nearly half an hour, becoming transfixed with what I would learn is one of the most isolated places on the planet.

Soon my thinking turned to research which led me to find out that the island's time is under threat.

At the mercy of rising sea levels there are no guarantees that Rakahanga will be here next year let alone next century.

Locals know that: the population has dropped from 150 to 70 in only 12 months.

Joe and I have decided we're going to go there to tell its story before it's too late, but we need your help.

We've set up a PledgeMe account to try and raise the ten thousand odd dollars it will cost to get to Rakahanga and shoot a wee doco.

If you help out the cause you will be rewarded with a beautiful photograph.

To find out a little more about how it all works, and to see a semi-awkward video of Joe and I explaining our case, CLICK HERE.

If nothing else, maybe send this link to someone wiht too much money and not nearly enough beautiful photographs?

Tim & Joe.
